The "Nutcracker Invites" competition is the largest platform
to exchange experience of the international professional community
and one of the most anticipated cultural events in the region
The International festival-competition "The Nutcracker Invites" is organized by the Children's Ballet Theater "The Nutcracker" under the patronage of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia.
The founders of the competition are: the Ministry of Culture of the Sverdlovsk Region, the Department of Culture of the Administration of the city of Yekaterinburg, the Sverdlovsk regional branch of the Union of Theater Workers, the Municipal Ballet Theater "The Nutcracker".
The competition is held once every two years in order to preserve and popularize the traditions of national choreographic and theatrical art, create conditions for the development of gifted children, strengthen professional and creative contacts between Russian and foreign young classical dancers and is one of the key choreographic competitions among dancers in Russia from 10 to 18 years old.
The chairman of the jury is People's Artist of Russia Sergei Filin, head of the Bolshoi Theater Youth Ballet Program.
The participants compete in three categories:
Classical dance
- "Solo"
- “Small forms” (duets, trios, quartets)
- “Ensembles”
Children's ballet
- Children's ballet performance
Children's Ballet Laboratory
- Creating a sketch of a children's ballet performance by choreographers and playwrights
As part of the competition, an extensive educational program is conducted with master classes by leading experts in the field of choreographic art
The delegates of the competition visit the main routes of cultural and historical tourism of the capital of the Urals
The gala concert of the Competition is held at the Opera and Ballet Theater (Yekaterinburg) with the participation of the stars of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia
